Ron the Geek Thread Starter. Joined Nov 22, Messages Anyone know what these are? They will not delete about to install unlocker to fix that if I need to, hopefully but are these necessary files of any kind? There's but six of them on the laptop I'm working on but I like to get rid of as much as I can before these go to the sales floor.

I have three computers in my home that are used regularly. This happens only on one of the computers the one we had built for us at a computer store. To my knowledge this has been happening since we first brought it home. The problem is in order to delete this file completely I have to boot up in safe mode and then when I boot up in normal window mode it reappears.

I am unable to do a clean disk because you cannot remove the current file unless you are in safe mode. I can delete all of the occurences except for the most recent one. Since this is not how the other two computers work I would think something is creating this that should be able to be turned off. Your help in this matter would be appreciated. Perflib Perfdata stands for Performance Library and Performance Data, which collects and organizes data for performance tools, such as System Monitor.

These log files are created by the processes in normal course of operations. These are deleted when the process is stopped properly.

Log files are left orphaned if computer is shutdown abruptly without stopping the processes gracefully. These log files are found in different folder paths depending upon whether it is Windows XP, Win 7 or Windows etc. Windows XP creates those files to collect performance data and keeps them open as long as it runs. All of the older log files can be safely deleted after a restart. In the View menu choose Arrange Icons by and then slide right to select Modified.
